National Fruit

This, the Durian, is the national fruit of some country around here. It smells of Limburger cheese, looks like pus, tastes like onion and egg, is against the law to bring on the subway (S$1000 fine) but the aftertaste--heaven!

Tropical Christmas

Not celebrating Thanksgiving, Singaporeans have no buffer between November and rampent christmasization of the streets, stores, etc. This is Orchard Road, the mainline shopping street here for malls, designer outlets, etc. The lights are up and everyone's excited!
